JANUARY 2026 PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Wishing everyone a belated Happy New Year 2026. Wishing you all have a fantastic start of 2026. Soon, there will be our exciting Lunar New Year, 2026, year of the Horse arriving.

This last January doesn’t appear as a very busy month for community activities other than several of our regular program events for all ages. Lion and Dragon Dance Team continue to conduct their weekly practice; new drumming program is now being offered for every Sunday between 12:00 noon to 1:00pm. Any interested individual is welcome to join and there is no age limit. Our programming continues to be very well received, fully engaged, and occupied for our cooking class, mahjong class, pickleball, table tennis, and Taichi class. With great regular attendance, upon request, our Taichi class is now extended to May, and there is also no age limit, beginners or any level of interested individual is welcome. The Centre will begin the Calligraphy Class starting at 1:00p to 2:00pm on Sunday March 1st, 2026. Notification posted on our official website.

High light for up coming month, February will be our first Chinese New Year Table Tennis Tournament. Tournament is design to give all level of players of different age group to have greater opportunity to play to challenge and have fun. This will be a two-day event, an event that is new for the Centre and our community. Interested players can access our official website to obtain registration information. This event is hosted by WCCCC with generous sponsors from our community, assistance in organizing this event with Manitoba Table Tennis Association and Winnipeg Table Tennis Training Center.

Construction of our new affordable housing project is well underway, with foundation completed, framing of first floor will commence in February 2026. Chinatown will remain noisier for the next while, then it will bring another 54 households to live within Chinatown. This is an income base housing facility, anyone interested in obtaining more information, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of WCCCC or our website:

Our next exciting event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, February 14th & 15th, 2026 – our first Lunar new Year Table Tennis Tournament. Check out our coming soon event poster on our website.

1. January 2026 Activities:

  • Booking of our Gymnasium continue to grow for basketball groups, table tennis groups, pickleball and planning for badminton is also starting.
  • Our lion and dragon dance group have received expanded interest especially the younger generation; regular practice continues from 12:00noon to 3:00pm every Sunday.

2. Upcoming Programming for all age groups :

Health / Senior Program:

  • The program is being scheduled during the winter of 2026

Sports Program:

  • Lion Dance team, along with our dragon dance team, as our cultural recreational activities, 12:00noon to 3:00 pm, every Sunday
  • The Tai Chi program is currently underway and will be extended through May.
  • The cooking classes are also in progress.

Arts and Language:

  • Calligraphy Class will start at 1:00p to 2:00pm on Sunday March 1st, 2026
  • Chinese language class, programming in progress

2026年1月主席报告

谨向大家送上一声迟来的2026 年新年快乐，祝愿大家在 2026 年都有一个精彩而美好的开端。不久之后，我们也将迎来令人期待的2026 农历新年——马年。

刚刚过去的一月，社区活动整体而言并不算繁忙，除了一些面向各年龄层的常规项目持续进行。舞狮舞龙队继续进行每周例行训练；全新的鼓乐课程 现已开设，每周日中午 12:00 至 1:00 举行，欢迎所有感兴趣的朋友参加，不设年龄限制。
我们的多项课程持续受到社区的热烈欢迎，包括烹饪班、麻将班、匹克球、乒乓球及太极班，参与度高、反响良好。鉴于太极班出勤稳定、反应积极，并应学员要求，课程现已延长至 2026 年 5 月，同样不设年龄限制，无论初学者或任何水平的参与者均欢迎加入。此外，书法班将于2026 年 3 月 1 日（周日）下午 1:00 至 2:00 正式开课，相关通知已发布于我们官方网站。

即将到来的二月，社区活动的一大亮点将是首届中华新年乒乓球锦标赛。本次赛事旨在为不同年龄层、不同水平的选手提供更多比赛、挑战自我并享受运动乐趣的机会。赛事将为期两天，这是中心及社区的一项全新活动。感兴趣的选手可前往WCCCC 官方网站查询并获取报名信息。
本次活动由温尼伯中华文化及社区中心（WCCCC）主办，并获得社区慷慨赞助，同时在赛事组织方面得到曼尼托巴乒乓球协会及温尼伯乒乓球训练中心的大力协助。

我们的全新可负担住房项目 建设进展顺利，目前地基工程已完成，首层结构施工将于 2026 年 2 月启动。未来一段时间内，唐人街区域施工噪音可能会有所增加，但项目完成后，将为唐人街带来54 户新的住户。该项目为 收入型可负担住房。如需了解更多信息，欢迎随时联系WCCCC 办公室，或访问我们的官方网站：https://wcccc.ca
