DECEMBER 2025 PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Winter season with colder and chilly days are here, I would like to take this special moment to wish everyone ad your family a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, best of season.

This last December continues to be a busy month for the Centre. Our programming has been very well received, fully engaged, and occupied for our cooking class, mahjong class, pickleball, table tennis, Taichi class, and Dragon/Lion Dance class. Our seniors Program with a variety of classes continue to see the substantial pickup on attendants. We now are beginning to see volley activity happening. Although it is not part of the current program, but we welcome the interest. It is exciting to observe the increased foot traffics over Saturday, Sunday and even during weekdays with various basketball bookings, and table tennis classes. We have seen some overlapping of sport activities and the team is intending to see how we best schedule them apart to allow different sports to access the facility.

New initiatives to extend some of our current programs to become weekly year-round regular activities is underway. Program such as Taichi, table tennis, pickle ball, volleyball, badminton, and basketball (new). Notification will be posted once planning and scheduling can be completed in the new year.

High light for December is our first Winter Family Fair. An event that is new for the Centre and our community. Event was a seven-hour event, with almost 300 attendants of various age groups and coming from different part of the city. The enthusiastic crowd makes the day very exciting, and with our event team, we consider this a very successful event and will plan to continue this as an annual event.

Construction of our new affordable housing project is well underway, with foundation near completion, framing of first floor will commence early new year 2026. Chinatown will remain noisier for the next while, then it will bring another 54 households to live within Chinatown. Our next exciting event is scheduled for Sunday, February 15th, 2026 – our first Lunar new Year Table Tennis Tournament. Check out our coming soon event poster on our website.

1. December 2025 activities:

  • Booking of our Gymnasium continue to grow for basketball groups, table tennis groups, pickleball and planning for badminton is also starting.
  • Our lion and dragon dance group have received expanded interest especially the younger generation; regular practice continues from 12:00noon to 3:00pm every Sunday.

2. Upcoming Programming for all age groups :

Health / Senior Program:

  • The program is being scheduled 2025 and the end of winter 2026

Sports Program:

  • Lion Dance team, along with our dragon dance team, as our cultural recreational activities, 12:00noon to 3:00 pm, every Sunday
  • Line Dance for interest group, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon every Saturday
  • The cooking classes are also in progress.

Arts and Language:

  • Calligraphy, programming in progress
  • Chinese language class, programming in progress

新的计划正在进行中，旨在将我们现有的一些项目扩展为全年每周定期开展的常规活动。这些项目包括太极、乒乓球、匹克球、排球、羽毛球以及篮球（新增）。一旦在新的一年完成规划和排程后，将发布相关通知。

十二月的亮点是我们首次举办的冬季家庭嘉年华。这是一个对中心和我们社区来说全新的活动。该活动持续了七个小时，吸引了将近300名来自城市不同地区、不同年龄层的参与者。热情高涨的人群让这一天非常令人兴奋，活动团队认为这是一次非常成功的活动，并计划将其作为年度活动继续举办。
