清朝皇后 Empress of the Qing Dynasty
The Empress of the Qing Dynasty was the emperor’s principal wife and the highest-ranking woman in the imperial palace. She managed important affairs within the imperial household, supervised other imperial consorts, and participated in major ceremonies and traditional rituals. As the symbolic mother of the empire, the empress was expected to represent dignity, virtue, wisdom, and proper conduct.
The empress’s clothing reflected her high status. During important ceremonies, she wore elaborate robes decorated with phoenixes, clouds, flowers, waves, and other auspicious symbols. The phoenix represented the empress, just as the dragon represented the emperor. Her ceremonial crown was often decorated with pearls, gold ornaments, and images of phoenixes, showing her position as the most respected woman in the Qing imperial court.
