Miao

The Miao are an ancient ethnic group mainly living in southwest China. Over thousands of years, their ancestors migrated to mountain areas across Guizhou, Hunan and Yunnan. Their history was passed down through ancient oral songs.
Miao culture features lusheng music, batik, embroidery and handcrafted silver ornaments. Women’s elaborate traditional costumes are known as “history worn on the body”, decorated with vivid patterns and silver accessories, while men’s garments are plain and practical.
